Spiritual Vitamin: "You must have the same attitude that Jesus Christ had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges, he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross." Philippians 2:5-8
Challenge: The shepherds were the least likely people to be included in the Christmas story. In fact, they would be the ones who would feel excluded. Shepherds were seen as outcasts of their day and were ceremonially unclean. Yet, it was the shepherds that were front and center in the Christmas story. God chose the unpopular shepherds to see Jesus first and tell others. Have you ever felt rejected? Outcast? Less than? Celebrate today that God came for all of us. Let's be like the Shepherds and never get over Christmas.
Prayer: Dear God, Thank you for sending your son Jesus. He gave up his divine privileges and took the position of a slave and was born a human being. Thank you that you choose to humble yourself! Thank you for the shepherds in the Christmas story. You used those unpopular shepherds to tell others about Jesus. Thank You! Amen.
